How these figures are produced

Counts come from NYC 311 service requests with a complaint type of Rodent. Neighborhood names are NYC Department of City Planning Neighborhood Tabulation Areas, matched to zip codes by population. Reporting is self selected, and the city's Rat Mitigation Zones raise reporting where they operate. The full methodology is set out on the main report page.
